The Only Agency
After 13 years chronicling global culture (with a large-sized serving of fashion) Sorbet presents its first-ever Fashion issue. Starring French/Tunisian actress and model, Myriem Boukadida in , this is a deep dive into the fabric of fashion, literally. We explore the codes, commerce, and theater of the industry, from the relationship between fashion and art to runway spectacles, front-row power plays, the fervid obsession with archives, the -shaped shadow over diversity, and the merry-go-round of creatives at the top fashion houses in the world…there’s a lot to unpack.

Here are some excerpts:

Style not only reflects culture but
also actively shapes historical moments, especially during protest movements that seek to shift perspectives on gender, class, race, and power.

From a historical perspective, style has always been a mirror held up to society’s collective psychological state, or, as put by celebrity stylist Mickey Freeman: “Fashion can be used to express one’s personal views.” The notion is especially apparent in the sartorial choices made by those within socio-political movements, who often used fashion to subvert social norms and spotlight the issues at hand.

“What a person is wearing at any given moment acts as a visual freeze-frame of life [at that time] in the minds of many for generations to come,” Freeman says.

Okikiola Iriafen really looks absolutely stunning!

Kiki’s look for All Star tonight will evoke an aristocratic yet ostentatiously chic appeal. This will be the centerpiece of the WNBA All Star Orange carpet look, incorporating elements like bespoke black sheer opera gloves that channel the vintage glamour of icons like Dorothy Dandridge, fused with the bold, athletic panache of today’s elite female star athletes.
