n 1939, Arturo began to learn the art of shoemaking in his native . Three years later, his natural talent for the craft was clear: he was supporting his mother, father and two siblings at just 14 years old.

At 24, he met and married Calliopi, the love of his life and lifelong business partner. Together they opened a shoe manufacturing business in Buenos Aires and started a family. In the late 1950s, they fell in love again...with Los Angeles during a vacation and eventually moved to the US permanently.

In 1964, Arturo and his beloved Calliopi purchased Eletea’s Shoe Remodeling, catering to stores of the day like I. Magnin and Bullock’s Wilshire. In 1988, they opened a second shop called Arturo’s Shoe Fixx to meet the demand from major department stores in . Arturo managed the Eletea location while Calliopi ran Arturo’s Shoe Fixx.

After nearly 50 years working alongside her husband and growing their business, Calliopi grew ill and passed away in 1996. Her love for and dedication to Arturo and his talent lives on in their children, grandchildren and the countless pairs of shoes (across at least two continents!) that they lovingly cared for together.
