And while we’re here, a few friendly reminders from a professional mua:

- Bridal trials are just as much for me as they are for you. Not in the sense that I won’t be able to execute your plan if we aren’t able to meet prior to your big day (13 year vet)… it is simply just extra time to help us both get on the same page about your desired look. I prefer scheduling my bridal clients 6-8 weeks out from their wedding date to ensure that there is time to address/correct any issues regarding skin. I always take photos at the end of each trial & note what we have used so if any changes are needed for wedding day, I have easy access to know what to change!
- Staying hydrated can make a world of difference in how your makeup application wears. Always use moisturizer & drink lots of water.
- Stay true to yourself if you’re a fair skinned girly who never strays from it, but also know that a tan can help elevate almost any makeup look.
- I would argue that 9/10 photos you see on Pinterest are now AI generated or completely filtered. It’s my preference that clients give me verbal details on what they desire, or have photos of themselves in makeup to explain what they like/don’t like about it. Of course I won’t shut down an inspo board, but I try to make it clear to my clients that a makeup look will change drastically depending on skin tone & texture, eye color & shape, face shape and even the color of their hair/brows. Lastly, please know that it is absolutely normal to see texture, fine lines & pores when you have your makeup done because you are human 🥰

It’s always bittersweet to watch a client wrap up their high school career.

My days of doing makeup for this one (frequently) are coming to an end since she’s graduating soon. I’m extra emotional about it because it’s been such a long ride! I started with her older sister seven years ago— back when Brilyn wanted NOTHING to do with makeup. Things changed & she’s gradually just let me take over her face for all her big events 😆 There hasn’t been a time since where I didn’t get to doll them (and occasionally their mama) up for dances/events/weddings every few months.

It’s just so special to me to have built relationships like this through work. Far, far more than makeup.
