The best part about learning to sew has been being able to make my girls matching outfits.

They were cheering on big brother at t-ball last night in their baseball outfits⚾️

The best part about thrifting is the thrill of the hunt. You just never know what you’re going to stumble upon & some days are better than others.

You usually strike out more than you score…but all it takes is that one good find to keep you hunting for more!

Today wasn’t as successful as yesterday, but I still managed to track down a few finds. A lot of these will be for sale in the near future.

If you’ve been around for any amount of time, you’ve seen this page go through many phases

Weathered Door came to be through my love of all things vintage + antique. I was a teacher for 10 years and my summers consisted of going to auctions, estate sales + thrift sales. While hunting down my own treasures, I managed to fill a whole shed at my parents’ farm (oops!) with all my finds — which led to my vintage sales. I’ve hosted 5 vintage sales at my parents’ farm, and while I have no immediate plans to have another, there’s no ruling out future sales.

At the same time as I was accumulating vintage treasures, I was also buying old furniture to refinish & bring new life to. I loved refinishing pieces and managed to make a little business out of it for several years.

I also tracked down hundreds (no joke!) of old windows to do crafts with, with the main thing being adding quotes to the glass. I think my husband was the most happy when this phase subsided as he was often the one loading up these windows carefully so they wouldn’t get broke!

Next came my love of making leather jewelry. I made thousands of leather earrings, necklace + baby bows, sold mainly through Etsy, craft sales & they were even sold in Scheel’s for a couple years.

I jumped to making candles after that. I liked being able to pour into some of the unique vintage items and jars I had collected. This phase only ended due to pregnancy & the fact that I could not stand any fragrance smell — and I still can’t!

After having my first kid, I started doing a lot of research on healthier alternatives to a lot of the daily things I used. This led to making my own magnesium based deodorant (which I still make, use + sell!)

After my first kid was born, I stepped away from teaching. The following year, my mom and I opened a cute little store in Menomonie offering vintage + antique items, candles, books, kids items, clothing, furniture + more. When my second was born, we closed the store so I could soak in family life. There may be store in the future again, but for now, I’m loving being able to raise my kids.

& now — I finally taught myself how to sew! It’s been a goal of mine for years and I finally decided this was the year I was going to make it happen. I sewed my girls matching dresses for the 4th of July & I love how they turned out. Turns out, you’re never too old to learn a new skill! While I don’t plan to turn this into a business, I believe I may be offering some simple flare pants + bow combinations in the near future. So if that’s something that interests you, stay turned!

Have any of you been around since the beginning of this page? Did I miss any of my “phases”? I never know what I’ll come up with next — so your guess is as good as mine!🙃

UPDATE: It looks like enough people are interested. I’ll start taking pictures tomorrow and hopefully list tomorrow night!

Thanks again to everyone who came to our sale!

Although we sold a lot, there’s still a great selection of really cute clothes left! If you’d be interested in me posting on this page some of the items I have left for sale, let me know below👇🏼 Otherwise I’ll pack them away for next year’s sale.

I’d offer local pickup or shipping (I’d have to look into shipping prices, though). I’ve also looked into selling through the WhatNot app, but not sure I’m brave enough to tackle that yet🙃

I don’t plan to let individuals come here to look through the rest of my stuff, it’s too hard to organize with kid naps, my dog😂, etc. — plus I just want to get my garage back to normal! I love having sales, but love getting everything back in place right afterwards, too.

*pictured is just a small sampling of some really cute stuff left*
