Twenty years. ❤️
It’s hard to even write those words without getting emotional.
Twenty years ago, Punkin Butt wasn’t a brand, a manufacturing facility, or a product carried by families around the world.
It was just me.
A mom working from home, raising my children, selling cloth diapers, baby carriers and handmade baby products, trying to build something meaningful while taking care of the people who meant everything to me.
I had no idea where it would lead.
I certainly never imagined that one painful mistake with my own teething daughter would change the direction of my life.
I was simply trying to help her when I used undiluted clove oil and burned her little mouth. The guilt I felt was overwhelming. But out of that moment came a promise: I was going to learn everything I could, find a safer way, and hopefully keep another parent from making the same mistake.
That promise became Punkin Butt Teething Oil.
And somehow, one bottle became thousands.
One room in our home became a little shop.
That little shop eventually became our own manufacturing facility.
There were years of research and testing. Government regulations and red tape. Successes that made us celebrate and setbacks that made me wonder how we would keep going.
There were awards, magazine and newspaper features, new products, new retailers, and the incredible moment when our products began making their way into homes across the country—and eventually around the world.
But when I look back over these twenty years, those aren’t the things that make me the most emotional.
It’s the people.
My children grew up inside this business.
They filled bottles. Folded boxes. Packaged orders. Answered phones. Helped at shows. Learned to solve problems when things went wrong and learned that sometimes you keep working simply because people are depending on you.
They watched me build Punkin Butt.
But the truth is, we built it together.
And then life changed in ways none of us were prepared for.
We lost my husband.
Suddenly this business wasn’t simply something I had dreamed of building. It became part of how I kept our family standing while we learned how to live in a world that looked completely different without him.
Then came COVID—and overwhelming demand at a time when we were already carrying so much.
And people showed up.
Friends walked through the door, rolled up their sleeves and worked beside us. They helped fill bottles, package orders and keep products on shelves for parents who needed them.
Somewhere along the way, friends became family.
Customers became part of our story.
And this little business became something far greater than anything I could have imagined twenty years ago.
There have been tears here.
There has been laughter here.
Children have grown up here.
Friendships have been formed here.
We’ve celebrated new babies and mourned people we loved.
We’ve made mistakes, learned, adapted, rebuilt and kept going.
And through all of it, one thing has never changed:
Quality comes before profit.
We will never make something for your family that we wouldn’t feel comfortable using with our own children and grandchildren.
Because behind every order number is a real family.
And behind every Punkin Butt bottle is ours.
Today, twenty years later, I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come—but I’m even more excited about where we’re going.
There are still products I want to create.
Families I hope we’ll reach.
Things I want to teach.
Stories still waiting to be told.
And dreams for Punkin Butt that are much bigger than the ones I allowed myself to dream twenty years ago.
So this anniversary isn’t just about looking backward.
It’s about looking forward.
To the next idea.
The next family we get to help.
The next generation.
The next chapter.
And if you’ve purchased a bottle, shared one of our posts, recommended Punkin Butt to another parent, carried our products in your store, worked beside us, prayed for us, encouraged us, or simply believed in this little company…
You helped us get here.
From the mom who started this at home twenty years ago, to the mom and grandmother standing here today…
Thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your families.
Thank you for supporting mine.
Thank you for giving this little dream a life bigger than I ever imagined.
Here’s to the first twenty years. 🥂
And somehow, I have a feeling…
we’re only getting started. ❤️
