What will you accomplish in this role?
The Energy Services Technician works together with others in the team to ensure satisfaction within the Program from Clients, NEST management, and Program representatives. The Energy Services Technician will assist the Crew Chief in completing energy efficiency upgrades in homes. HVAC, insulation, electrical, health and safety measures will be installed in existing homes to reduce energy use in that home. By saving energy, installing healthy measures, and ensuring the continued quality demanded from the Program, an EST ensures the health and safety of the occupants of the homes in which they work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assure the cleanliness and organization of company breakroom, warehouse locations, and fleet vehicle parking areas by reqularly assisting with the cleaning and organization of said areas. This includes proper storage of products, and the proper disposale of garbage
• Assure assigned fleet vehicles have all the safety products, and that vehicles, and vehicle inventory remains clean and organized
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and safety inspections, and submit inspection and maintenance reports.
• Must be able to lift 80lbs
• Must be able to work in adverse work conditions to include working outdoors during different weather events, extreme temperature differences, while stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing, kneeling, sitting, twisting, turning, walking, and bending at the waist
• Perform all duties as directed to install energy efficiency equipment and products according to proper procedures.
• Provide a professional appearance conducive of company standards
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, measurements, records, and documents
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Programs requirements
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
• Perform all required duties as directed to install energy efficient measures such as Attic, wall, basement, and crawlspace insulation, HVAC measures, electrical upgrades, and any other measure necessary
• Assist in blower door and combustion testing as required by the Program
• Daily travel as needed to and from the work site
• Work in a team atmosphere to collaborate and continuously improve operations year after year
• Work within the confines of attics, basements, and crawlspaces
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Strong customer service and communication skills, to include both written and oral
• Must be able to handle a wide variety of work at a fast paced work environment
• Must be detailed orientated, organized, self starter, and have the ability to prioritize the work load
• Knowledge of basic math skills: Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, along with a basic foundation of algebra
• Ability to read and understand documents related to safety, operating, and maintenance rules and procedures
Licenses and Certifications:
MUST HAVE A VALID STATE DRIVER’S LICENSE
Ideal Candidate will have:
• High school diploma, or equivalent
• 2 years of Construction experience, or equivalent
• Mechanical and technical aptitude
• Experience in manual labor, and using basic construction tools
• Background in one or more of the following is preferred:
Building Science
Weatherization or related fields
Building maintenance
Home Inspection
HVAC, electrical, plumbing
