Okay… So I’ve done it again. I’m changing my business name. For 2 reasons. The amount of sunflower and thread themed businesses is crazyšŸ˜…

The second reason is I need a change. I started all this up because I found a love for sewing, and then crochet, and then every other hobby I picked up lol. And while it is still deeply rooted in the fact that I started this because of my kids.. This is truly for me now, and little bit of my kids cause they’re my everything. This helps with so much in my life. It’s the joy of making and creating something from nothing almost.

So, all that to say.. my new name is…
THE CROOKED CLOTH. šŸ–¤šŸ§µ

And this time, I want to do something a little different. I have a proposal. šŸ‘€

I’m looking for an artist who would like to help bring The Crooked Cloth to life by creating a logo/art piece for the new brand. I do not want to use ai to create it.

In exchange for your artwork, I’d make you one handmade item of comparable value, or a few smaller handmade pieces that add up to the same value. Or a handmade item, and the rest in payment! However!

You do NOT have to be a professional artist. I’m not looking for perfection! I’m looking for personality. I want something a little whimsical, a little vintage, a little dark, and maybe just a little crooked. šŸ–¤šŸŽ€

If you’re interested, please drop a comment or message me with some examples of your work!

I’d love for the new face of The Crooked Cloth to be something made by another creative person. 🄹

And yes… the name is The Crooked Cloth because my sewing machine has apparently decided that straight lines are just a suggestion sometimes. Handmade isn’t perfect. But it is uniquely one of a kind šŸ˜‚šŸ–¤

Good morning,

A thought on my mind and an act I’d love to do for October. (Anytime really, I’m always here for it; for you)

October 15th is pregnancy and infant loss Remembrance Day.

I will pin this post, and I will make it a safe thread. Say your babies name, say their weight, say how far along you were, or simply say today I remember. I don’t have to know your full story. You don’t have to say anything you don’t want to say. But let’s create a small little place, where you can feel okay to just let it go.

If your heart ever hurts because of the grief, please don’t ever hesitate to message me. You can get me here, or my regular page. Even if it’s late, I will message you back as soon as I can.

I will help honor your babies, and a candle will be lit just for them. Please don’t ever feel alone, say their name. I’ll say it with you. šŸ’›šŸŒ»

Hey everyone! šŸ’›

I just had some thoughts I wanted to share, and maybe even give you a little bit more of a glimpse into why I started crafting in the first place. So bear with me. šŸ˜…

I love to craft. I’ve learned to crochet, knit (kinda-ish šŸ˜‚), Tunisian crochet, taught myself to sew, and learned how to make bows. There’s definitely a range in the sewing department. šŸ˜‚ I just genuinely love learning how to make new things. I love being given a challenge and having to figure it out.

But the biggest reasons behind learning all of these things?

Love and mental health.šŸ’›

I learned back in high school that crafting gave my mind somewhere to go. Even if it was only for a little while. I could sit down, focus on making something, and just let everything else quiet down for a minute.

And even if the project turned out terribly? Oh well. šŸ˜‚ I tried it! Maybe I never made it again, but I still learned something from it.

As for the love part… there’s just something about making something for someone.
Whether it’s something they bought, a random gift, or a little ā€œjust becauseā€ surprise, there is so much love poured into something handmade. Every stitch. Every thread. Every piece of fabric or strand of yarn. Even choosing the materials becomes part of it. It’s all done with love and care.

I don’t care about making a ton of money from my crafts. I know my time is valuable, and I know there’s a cost to the materials and resources I use. I’m not naive about that.

But at the end of the day, I get to do two things I genuinely love:
Crafting and hopefully spreading a little light. And honestly, that means more to me than making a fortune ever could.

So when you see something I’ve made, just know there’s a little piece of that love behind the stitches. That’s really what Sunflower and Thread is all about.šŸ’›šŸŒ»

And if you made it this far I just wanted to say that I am extremely grateful for all of you. I am grateful for the challenges and for all of your support. Without it, I don’t know that I’d have figured out how truly capable I am. So a very big thank you. I can’t wait to see what the future brings. šŸ’›

Don’t judge too harshly cause it isn’t finished yet, so it looks just a little crazy🤪 I was just too excited with how it looks so far that I wanted to share the progress🫶

But I’m making cute tote bags!! It’ll have a long crossbody strap to go with it also!
I need to do the lining and obviously make a cute bow and a wristlet and pouch to go with it šŸ˜

I’ll figure out the zipper situation and can add top zippers to them soon enough!

But these would make such cute gifts! They could be diaper bags, travel bags for yourself or your kiddos, or even something to carry your school/work stuff in!
