π Meet Jay Calderin, Founder & Executive Director of Boston Fashion Week, and one of SFD's senior instructors!
π§΅ The Boston Globe calls Jay βa budding designerβs best friend.β His work as a fashion designer has graced the pages of Vogue and Elle magazines as well as the New York Times Sunday Style section. Jay founded Boston Fashion Week and has served as the organization's Executive Director since 1995.
π During Fall 2026, Jay will be teaching History of Costume, 2D & 3D Design, and Fashion Sketching I ! All of these classes will be online!
π History of Costume dives into costumes from ancient to modern times, with a focus on contemporary design and theatrical costuming. Students will study the fabrics, colors, styles, cultural and psychological impacts of these garments throughout history. | TUESDAYS (online), 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM
β 2D & 3D Design makes students explore elements and principles of design, and how to apply them to create a garment made out of non-textile materials! | THURSDAYS (online), 1:00 PM- 4:30 PM
π¨ Fashion Sketching 1 teaches students the necessary principles and techniques of fashion illustration to give them the ability to bring their creative vision to life! | THURSDAYS (online), 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM.
