Sh*t That I Knit is a knitwear company based out of Boston, MA. Our Founder and CKO (Chief Knitting Officer), Christina, learned how to knit as a 10 year old in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and kept up quite the habit. As we head into our third season selling knit sh*t, we now employ a group of women in Lima, Peru who are much better knitters than we are. Each piece in our knitwear collection is of the highest quality and is knit with hand-dyed Peruvian merino wool, alpaca, or cashmere.

As a former party girl… I officially can no longer hang. Three nights out in a row and I have been wrecked, so pulling out all of the stops to improve my recovery score and be a fully functioning human being and mom!!

Save this for your next roadtrip with kids!! For the most part, we don’t use tablets on “normal” car trips (anything under 4ish hours). Our kids play with toys, listen to books on tape, and complain instead!!

We just did a 12 hour car ride with three kids and these toys were some favorites. I’ll be keeping this bag in my trunk for our next trip!

OH, Canada!! 🇨🇦 Save this post for your trip to Cape Breton - listing some of my fave places to eat/explore below. It’s a special place… worth the 12 hour drive with three kids! Cape Breton Island 🥰

Baddeck:
-Lunch at Highwheeler and dinner at The Freight Shed
- shop at The Outdoor Store
-Pick up sandwiches at The Herring Choker if you’re leaving town
-Grab a beer at Bɪɢ Sᴘʀᴜᴄᴇ Bʀᴇᴡɪɴɢ and hang out there! Amazing smashburgers from Rose’s Smash Burgers

St. Anne’s bay:
-get a rez at Chanterelle Inn & Restaurant and find a concert at Colaisde na Gàidhlig | Gaelic College (I went to camp there!)

Iona:
- Living History Museum & Gaelic Folklife Centre | Iona, NS is fun for kids and adults! So beautiful and I always learn a lot about the history of the island

Inverness:
-play Cabot Cape Breton - if you didn’t get a tee time early, play the Nest (par 3, 9 hole course) - it’s the most beautiful view and then get a meal at Cabot after! I love the pub!
-Get sandwiches at The Dancing Goat Café & Bakery and go to Inverness beach! So beautiful!!

Mabou:
-Chimney Corner beach (almost feel like gatekeeping this) and dinner at The Red Shoe Pub with live music!

Drive the Cabot Trail and peel off in Ingonish for breakfast or lunch at Salty Rose's + Periwinkle Cafe. Check out Cheticamp and meet some “hookers”! Check out Bird Island on Donelda’s Puffin Tours!

If you’ve been to Cape Breton, what am I missing?! So many things!!

PART 1: prepping for a 12 hour car ride with our three kids. Idk about you but I’d rather do one 12 hour day than two 6 hour drives in a row… and Cape Breton is worth the trek!! Save this for your next long drive as I’m full of tips and weird ideas 🤓
