I want to make a movie about my time at this job. The stuff I was able to pull off is crazy! A kid from Lynn with just a high school diploma, was having meetings with some of the smartest & most powerful people in the Life Science 👩🏽🔬🧬🦠🔬. I finessed a customer service job into Co-Head of Employee Engagement 🤝 & Photographer 📸 for the US headquarters 🤯🤯. All because I wasn’t scared to ask questions and create my own opportunities.
I always tell people corporate life is a mix of “The Office” & “Game of Thrones”. One of funniest things is that halfway through our run, an emergency meeting got called. We had to meet with like 10 managers & 3 HR reps. They wanted to know WTF we’re doing and why are we meeting with executives 3 levels above their rank on the org chart 🤣🤣🤣 4 Slides into our PowerPoint, the Head of our department said “This is amazing! Keep it up, just let us know what’s going on.” We walked out that meeting and my supervisors reaction was “That didn’t go at all how I expected, but good for you guys.” We were organizing multiple events a month, created over a dozen employee groups and got an Engagement Lounge created. The Engagement Lounge was a wing off the cafeteria, featuring games and activities for employees to enjoy anytime during the day.
I always brought my camera with me and shared photos of the events. This made me unofficial camera man for my department. Then I got paid to shoot some events also. So long story short I turned a temp job into my dream job. I got paid to throw parties and take pictures 🤑Then I used that money to build my dream life. Friday was my last day at MilliporeSigma . Today I’m officially a full time artist.
