Richmond, we’ve got news! A new children’s bookstore & creative studio is coming to Brookland Park Boulevard!

We’ve building a studio space around book play, storytime, & a love for reading that grows through hands-on creativity!

A little behind the scenes of a bookstore owner!✨

ABA’s Children’s Institute 2026 Recap - so much was happening so it really was hard keeping track of it all!

It’s been put on my radar since last year, that the American Bookseller Association’s (ABA’s) Children’s Institute was somewhere that I needed to be. This is an indie bookseller’s conference full of educational seminars, author receptions, keynotes, and so much more! In my own words, it’s a great time all around, full of people who love children’s literature including booksellers, authors, illustrators, and publishers! It’s a must if you fit anywhere in those categories.

My personal favorite highlights were:

•Harper Collin’s Author Dinner
•Children’s Bookselling 101 session
•Young Teen Lit Session
•Meeting booksellers from across the country!
•& of course the books! So many good books are coming!

The books I’m Most Looking Forward to:

•The Greatest Bedtime Story Ever by Jessie Sima
•The Ginghams by T.C. Kemper
•The Cow in the Dark at Night by Jess Hannigan
•It’s Only Dancing by Jasmine Guillory
•Where We Go at Night by Ikwo Ntekim

Next on my list is Winter Institute but I think I’m always going to prefer Children’s. It’s just something so special about being in a room full of people who love children’s literature and what a time it is for it!✨
