Someone asked me yesterday “what is deadstock??” Deadstock or “NOS” - New Old Stock means a vintage item that was never used or worn. It might be old store stock or someone simply saved it in unused condition for decades. It might be NWT = New With Tags, showing the original paper hang tags or original price tag. Technically it’s not “used clothing.” But it can still have condition issues from improper storage, so always check items carefully out in the wild. At Morning Glorious Vintage we repair and make sure everything is clean before selling it. This beautiful late 1950s blue printed acetate dress was never worn but the zipper wasn’t zipping 😂 so Eli replaced it for us with a working vintage zipper that matches the color. The tags tell us it’s “Celanese” fabric. The vintage size 16 is not a modern size and according to the measurements it fits like a modern medium. Be the first to wear this fab piece of mid century fashion! And for care, I do recommend dry cleaning or home dry cleaning, as some vintage acetates can shrink when wet.
Did you know what “deadstock” meant or did this post expand your knowledge about vintage? Let me know in the comments!
