I’ve debated sharing this but decided it was time for a little PSA…

🛑 Don’t ask an artist / maker for a discount.It’s not OKAY. It’s an insult. You are insulting me and you are insulting my art. PERIOD.

👉Artist / makers it’s okay to say NO and it’s okay to feel insulted. Your work should be valued.

🛑 IT DOES ‘HURT’ TO ASK.

🛑 NO is an answer and I don’t owe anyone an explanation but often catch myself saying… ‘but I make them…..’ 🙄

👉If you want to haggle with your local junk dealer at the swap meet…. may the odds be forever in your favor. Yard sales… give it your best shot. I can haggle with the best of them but be respectful and respect WHERE you are and what you’re haggling over.

👉You won’t find my booth at a swap meet or yard sale. I do curated markets and craft fairs. We aren’t there to be harassed and haggled. We are there to make a living.

❤️ The people who stand in line on the first day and rush to get to my booth… those amazing humans don’t ask for discounts. I’m so grateful. I’m grateful that you appreciate my time, my hard work and value my art.

🛑 I had someone tell me what THEY would pay me for 2 of my items in Louisiana and this is after Scott told them NO while I was in the bathroom. They fully expected me to say yes. The ‘aunt’ then tried to bully me and preceded to tell me she was an artist and she gave BIG discounts. She argued with me. I promise, I’m not the one to argue with and you will not bully me.

I was almost as mad as I was about the shoplifter.. it’s been a hard few weeks.

❤️I know a lot of vintage vendors offer discounts and I just want remind folks that artist and hand makers are not the same as vintage dealers. Our profit margins and pricing is different.

🛑 There was more than one incident and I honestly couldn’t tell you how many times I was asked/told the last few weeks if I’d discount. Too many…

👉if you don’t like my prices then simply move on…

🛑 The audacity is rampant right now.
The entitlement and rudeness is disgusting.
Just stop it…

❤️I’m grateful that the GOOD outweighs the bad, I just wish the bad didn’t hurt 😞 so much.
