Our Story

Donna and Rob Prescott of Salida, CO founded Young Colors in 1998 with a dream to outfit children in fun, age-appropriate, original designs and to build an international brand. Since day one, Donna has been the designer of the line - from the fabric patterns to the body styles. To make the fabrics, Donna uses the ancient art form of batik, which she learned while traveling Southeast Asi

a for two months. The batik art process utilizes color overlapping, stamping and nature to create incredible fabrics. When these fabrics are made in bright, fun colors, they make wonderful and practical clothing for children. Donna has used her talents not only for Young Colors but also for their other brands, Silly Sarongs and Frumpy Rumps. After years of wholesaling to specialty boutiques in 47 states and running an outlet store in their hometown of Salida, Rob and Donna thought it was time to open a flagship store and chose Cherry Creek North for this adventure. After a day of charging powder on Loveland pass (Rob is a ski instructor), Rob and Donna signed the lease for their Denver location. They completed a remodel in 10 days with the help of family and friends refinishing the front desk, installing fences and creating an inviting shopping experience. Now, after six months of building up a loyal customer base, the Young Colors store is celebrating its grand opening and invites the public to participate in a fun-filled day and to hear the story behind the brand. Young Colors is a local company with international dreams and this flagship store is just the beginning!

After years of wholesaling to specialty boutiques in 48 states and running an outlet store in their hometown of Salida, Rob and Donna now operate 2 amazing boutiques in Breckenridge & Beaver Creek called Cowboys & daisies. Besides Donna’s own creations the stores feature her designer friends & artists she got to know over her 20 year career. Both stores feature a children’s section aptly called Lil’ Dudes & daisies featuring now only the brands you know & love from Donna but also from her talented friends.
