I got out my acrylic paints for the first time this week! I've been so afraid of making a mess in my painting studio - which is actually the master suite in this house, and which hogs all the best mountain views so I claimed it to paint in instead π
- that I've chickened out on using any hard-to-clean paints in over a year since we moved here.
Watercolors wash right out of everything, even hours or days later if you didn't notice you left some in the white master sink where you wash your paintbrushes π¬... but acrylics are not so forgiving on late cleanup. Thus, I've been thinking about getting out my acrylics for months, but I could never bring myself to test my cleanup skills that much.
But now that I've gotten my acrylics back out again, I remember why I enjoy them! I spent over 50 hours on this painting as a mental health peace exercise leading up to our move last year, and once I got it wrapped on a frame, I realized I should have painted farther over the edges to really do it justice. It's been hanging on the wall as an eyesore reminder that I really just need to pull it down and finish it... And now finally, finally I am using this as my excuse to unpack the thick paints and finalize the "messy painting" part of my studio. It's about time! π§βπ¨
