To those devastated by hurricane Helene
I cannot begin to say that I know how the people in the hardest hit parts of the hurricane feel but I can say that I am hurting for each one of you. I have watched so many horrific videos that you don’t see on the news. Personal heartfelt and extremely heart wrenching videos!
Today my pickup broke down and it’s probably the transmission, but you know what? I felt extremely blessed!! Because I sit here in my home with all my family and friends safe and secure and can not fathom the new life that the people of these devastated places are living. They were sitting in their home the night before just like I am today and then their whole life changed. I sit here watching, not knowing how to help except to share and pray! I watched the waters wash away not only homes, cars, barns and farm equipment but also peoples loved ones, animals and a lifetime of memories and seeing all those faces full of pain, fear and yet strength and perseverance. However, it was the videos of the personal tragedies that pull the heart strings the tightest. The people begging to help find their loved ones, the ones crying saying that they were being washed away together but couldn’t find a part of the family, the ones watching their homes disappear as it floated off in pieces, the ones crying because they didn’t know where to go and the ones that through all their pain chose to help their neighbors. It was truly some of the most heart wrenching and life defining things I have ever seen. A true lesson in being blessed for your normal life with the little hiccups you may have and to be so thankful for that life.
I watch these people suffering with very little help from our government but am so thankful for the people that shows there is still so many good people in this world that has pitched in and helped in their time of need. While I know its still a struggle to get the help needed and I am ashamed of our government that has sent billions to other countries. I wish I had a helicopter or lots of money and could come help. However, know this you are all in my thoughts and prayers more than you know!!!!
I pray that GOD gives you the strength to endure the tragedies you have had to endure and the ones you still must endure. I pray that you feel him walking beside you as you face tomorrow. I pray that you know that so many of us care and hurt for you. I pray that you see that you are not alone.
