Very few artists can do forward-thinking, thought-provoking abstract hip hop like Rhys Langston a California based poet and musician and inward-looking philosopher with his finger on the pulse of the cutting edge of both experimental hip hop and political and socioeconomic issues in America. This is his LP, Stalin Bollywood, a sonic divergence between industrial nowave and post punk playing out like a satire of the “hip-hop opera” that spans historical references and world-building imagery to construct a depiction of bleak futurism.
