This is what q***r joy looks like. 🫶

Today marks the anniversary of marriage equality in the U.S. While the fight to protect that right continues, moments like this remind us what’s worth fighting for.

Just this month, Zann and Emily DeLong visited our Brooklyn showroom to find their wedding suits for their fall wedding in Utah.

The moment Zann saw themselves in their suit, they said: “I felt seen for the first time, like something off the rack actually fit me.”

No one should have to compromise on how they show up on their wedding day. Every person deserves clothing that lets them feel like themselves.

Earlier this month, the KF team spoke with Brielle Winslow-Majette , Garden State Equality’s first Black acting Executive Director, to discuss what authenticity means to her.

Stating, “you can’t do anything if you are not living as your authentic self,” she is a testament of how living out loud creates space to be a leader, an advocate, and a voice to your lived experience.

After a 10-year career specializing in youth development as a Program Director for the YMCA, where she expanded programming and spearheaded new initiatives, Brielle brings a renewed light to Garden State Equality programming and education.

At Kirrin Finch, we know that self-expression is a powerful act of resistance. So when given the opportunity to dress gsequality ‘s acting executive director, Brielle Winslow-Majette , we knew it was a chance to make a statement, not just an outfit.

For the Equality Ball, Brielle’s Emerald Kirrin Tuxedo was emblazoned with the phrase “No Pride Without Liberation.” The font, crafted by Tré Seals, drew inspiration from protest sign typography and pays homage to New Jersey native Marsha P. Johnson. The suit’s concept was envisioned by our very own Doreen Pierre .

We are endlessly grateful to GSE for honoring us with the Threads of Liberation Award. We will continue creating space for ourselves in clothing that affirms us—during Pride Month and beyond.
