I started making this non-functional piece in the middle of preparing for the pieces for showroom, fulfilling wholesale orders, and working on custom orders. I felt like I needed some space to process the thoughts I’ve been having.

I’ve been thinking about paths a lot these past couple of years. How everyone has a unique one - some people have the chance to shape it, some people have the courage to walk it, some probably had little chance. Curvy, straight, folded, circling. messy.

I started to piece these paths together, using odd-shaped scraps and fragments. Some represent the people around me; others are for the imagined people out there. By the end, all the paths were leaning the same direction. Like gravity had pulled them there.

It looks like pinstripes.

In this edition, black has returned - after six years apart.

When I stepped away from synthetics and already-dyed textiles, black became almost impossible to reach. To achieve a true, pitch-black with natural dyes, without relying heavily on iron, felt like an unattainable goal to me.

Until we visited a family-owned indigo farm in Okinawa.
You can feel how deeply they love their soil and the indigo they grow. There are no chemicals, no pesticides. A pure, instant pull that made me want to partner with them, despite the language barrier and the distance.
By intensively layering deep indigo then over persimmon, they found a way to bring black onto linen and cotton.

It feels like coming full circle. Black is back in my world 🪐

January was filled with inspiring traditions and endless surprises - witnessing the dedication of generational craftsmanship across Sa Pa, Okinawa, and Hong Kong.

Now I’m back in the studio, washing and sewing. We’re hosting an open studio this Saturday to share some new pieces alongside the textiles and objects we collected during our trips.
