Hey! A few things!

Here are September's open hours. Figure skating competitions will be picking back up come this fall, so I will be out of town a decent amount to be a vendor. Please make sure you check our open hours before stopping by. If you'd like to come when I'm out of town, you can schedule an appointment on our website and Carmen will assist you!

All of that being said, I am starting to think about hiring someone for the days that I am out of town to be a vendor, that way our hours can stay consistent year round. Carmen LOVES to be out there with all of you when I'm out of town but it would be nice to have someone else to rely on and give him a break (he would beg to differ). I mean, the man is 90 after all!

Anyway! If you are retired, this would be a perfect job for you! Competition season picks up heavily in November and also from March-May. There are still some competitions scattered throughout the other months, but you would be working more often during those months listed. Mostly Fridays and Saturdays but some Thursdays. If this is something you'd be interested in, please send me an email at [email protected] or text the store phone at 330-225-4436. We can discuss pay and all of the responsibilities you would have. You would need to have knowledge on fabric and also know how to work an iPhone, which is used for credit card payments. (And you get 50% off fabric year round😉)

Exciting news! The warehouse is getting a facelift! Really, it's just getting painted. But that being said, there will be workers here today and probably the next few days. So just a heads up if you plan on stopping by! 💜

90 years ago today, Carmen was born. And in those 90 years, he has touched more lives than he'll ever know, especially mine.

At almost 30 years old, I am beyond blessed to still have my grandpa, and so happy I get to share him with all of you. You all have kept him young. Seriously. At 90, he still has his wits about him, still tends his garden, still helps customers, and yes, still gets on ladders, uses a chainsaw, and lifts 200 pound objects while I yell at him to stop. Some things never change. 😅

He came to America from Sicily as a child, worked all kinds of jobs, married my grandma, Carol, in 1959, raised 3 beautiful children, and eventually opened this little fabric shop in the 1970s, which became his true passion. He is stubborn and loving, kind, funny, patient, and would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought if you let him. His life these days are taking care of my grandma, basking in the sun through his bay window, playing Sudoku, tending to his garden, helping at the shop when I'm out of town, baking cookies, being stubborn, and somehow always finding a way to get in trouble.

He has taught me how to run a business, how to make a customer feel welcome, how to live life on my own terms, and of course how to plant a killer garden. Oh, and how to be just as stubborn as he is. I am so happy that I am able to carry on his legacy with our little fabric shop.

He loves hearing from all of you. I read him your comments, texts, and emails. I even connect my phone to his TV to show him everything you all say. So please, wish him a happy birthday. It truly means the world to him. 🎂

More new cottons are in! All $9.95/yard. Carmen's favorite is the garden design, probably because it reminds him of the ongoing battle he's having with the deer because they're eating his green beans. 🤭

New denim should be in within the next week or so. And a large cotton order should be in towards the end of the month!

August Open Hours! Carmen's 90th birthday is August 14th, so if you see him in August make sure to wish him a Happy Birthday! 😉
