FULL STORY BELOW⬇️
There is something special about Buffalo.
During this playoff run, we hung a Sabres flag outside our shop to cheer on our team and show a little hometown pride.
On Elmwood, the streets stay alive long after midnight. Music echoes through the neighborhood, people wander from bar to bar, and the city feels alive!
Saturday morning, we arrived at the store and noticed our flag was gone.
At first, we were genuinely upset. It may seem small to some people, but during a playoff season like this, that flag meant something to us. It was our way of standing behind our team and being part of a moment this city has waited a long time for.
We checked our security cameras expecting to find theft, only to discover our little flag had actually gone on quite a journey.
Around 2:30 in the morning, it had been knocked down and left on the sidewalk. Person after person walked by without noticing it or thinking twice. We assumed it was gone for good.
Then the story changed.
A group of people stopped, picked it up, and worked together trying to put it back where it belonged. They waved it proudly, laughed together, and tried to get it standing again.
What they did not know was that we weighted to keep it from twisting in the wind, which made their efforts nearly impossible!! But they kept trying anyway.🙏
Watching that back restored something in us.
This city is called the City of Good Neighbors for a reason. Sometimes the smallest moments remind you that people do care. Something as little as returning a fallen flag can make a real impact on someone else’s day.
To the group who tried to put our Sabres flag back up, THANK YOU!!!
You truly made our day & reminded us why we love this city, this neighborhood, and this community so much.
GO SABRES💛💙⚔️
