“Some of you may die, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.” -some event coordinators probably

Not all of course. It feels like many though.

I’d like to share my frustrations from yesterday. Although I was watching the weather all day and had ample weights on my tent my booth did not survive the storm. The vendors next to me were holding onto their tents with everything they had.
•
Vendors should not be subjected to this weather. Clear communication and safety measures need to happen to ensure our safety. My tent flew over me taking me to the ground with it. Serious I jury could have happened and there was not one coordinator, volunteer, helper, police officer around to help or communicate the ending of the event.
•
We started the day off with an email stating the event was still on and the morning looks clear. Our next communication was not until 307 which came after my tent was destroyed, the storm came through, and everything was soaked. The email has me quite upset (screenshot in my stories)
•
Once I was cleaned up and home I came across a news article with a quote from the lead coordinator saying they were happy to have the hours they did and the vendors are extremely prepared for weather. (Screenshot in my stories)

I am an experienced vendor and had 175-200lbs on my tent….I didn’t stand a chance. This really made me upset. Vendors lost 100s-1000s in product and tent damages and the coordinator says this like everyone made it out perfectly. Unacceptable.

Overall I am extremely disappointed with how Allentown Art Festival handled this yesterday.

Vendor, event coordinators what are your thoughts?
