I grew up without a father. He walked out on my mom and me when I was 4 years old. No calls, no visits, no child support, just disappeared. My mom worked herself to the bone to raise me, and honestly, she was both parents in one. I’ve always admired her for that. When I was around 16, I found out he had remarried and had other kids. He never once reached out to me, not even a birthday card. I built my life without him, and I never expected anything from him.

I recently got a call from one of his relatives saying my father is very ill, broke, and about to be evicted from his place. Apparently, none of his other kids or family members can take him in, so they’re looking at me as his only hope. He stopped being my father the day he chose to abandon me. AITA for refusing to pay for my son's stepbrother to play hockey alongside him while also refusing to pull my son from hockey?

I have a 7 year old son with my ex-girlfriend. She left me when our son was 4 months old for her husband. He has a son 7 months older than mine. My ex is raising her husband's son as her own, because his bio mom is not in his life, and this is a point they have argued with me. Because of the way our relationship ended we are not on the best of terms. And because my son is closer to me than to my ex or her husband it causes more trouble when I do something for my son. They think I'm buying him when that's not it. Nothing I do is about buying my son or making me the favorite. I just want to provide a good life for my only kid.

My son had expressed an interest in hockey for a while and several months ago I signed him up for some lessons and now he's part of a team. His stepbrother doesn't get to go and he's jealous. My son recently turned sixteen, and his grandfather (my ex's dad) gave him a car. Now he doesn't need to be picked up and dropped off, but can drive between houses. He has also started ignoring the custody schedule and just driving to whatever house he wants to stay at when he feels like doing so. Neither my ex nor I really see a problem with this because we both want him with us and know forcing him to go where he doesn't want to be won't make him want to be with us.

My husband has begun to get irritated by my son just showing up whenever and has made a particularly big deal about the fact that he "doesn't even knock." I said that people don't knock at the houses they live at. Guests knock. My son isn't a guest. We had a little tiff about it.

I am at a loss here truly 😭
So I am a waitress and bartender and I work at a popular hotel chain. This Saturday I was working in the restaurant all night as well as being the only staff member available to work on the bar so I was pretty busy. A family of 4 came in, a man, two women and a young boy probably around the age of 5.
When they sat down I asked if the boy needed a children’s menu and they said no and that they would pick for him. That was the end of my acknowledgment to their son really. They yes ordered and I the child was climbing around over the seats and climbing up and down the booths. When I went to give water the table he stuck his hand into the jug. I didn’t say anything to him and just asked if they wanted a new jug, they said no. my JNMOM has a temper tantrum in the doctor’s waiting room because I wont let her come into the examination room with me.

So I am 20. I went for a cancer screening in my legs. Last night I found out, that my parents were coming with me. I figured, “oh for emotional support, they’re worried about me having cancer and all that.”

So Im in the doctor’s office, and my ma is saying things like “we need to make sure we tell the doctor ___” or “we need to make sure your referral was sent over.” So I told her “Ma, its not personal, but I would be more comfortable if I went in by myself”. My dad was okay with it, he said that he was there just for emotional support. My ma was not okay with it. I even told her that of course, I’d tell her what the doctor said when I came out. But noooo, she needs to be in there. A small tidbit about my ma, is that she is a helicopter mom. For reference, once when I went to a college fair and she insisted on being there with me.
