As much as I love the quiet chaos of the ocean, I feel the draw of the steadfast mountains calling me home.

We still have a couple days left of the pledge where we will be redistributing 10% of our sales to the and - two projects that are invested in bringing quality of life through the land back to Black and Indigenous communities.

Today I am grateful.

I am grateful to be with my family - who individually and as a whole has overcome adversity time and time again.

I am grateful to my body and mind - for carrying me through a vast emotional spectrum, for carrying and birthing my son, for supporting me even when I couldn’t recognize it was doing so.

I am grateful for my friends - who share with me, make me laugh, build me up, and most of all, who are honest and kind and real.

I am grateful to the Shoshone-Bannock land that I inhabit - where the mountains and valleys, rivers and flowers provide peace, reflection, stability.

I am grateful for you - for being here with me and believing in this vision, even when there are times that I struggle to believe in it myself.

Today I am grateful to know the truth, to continue to learn the truth, about what this day really means for many people.

Today, and everyday, I am grateful.

I’m thrilled to announce that fig nine will be taking the redistribution pledge through Reclaim Black Friday organized by .

As a white-owned business that benefits from intersectional privilege, it is essential that we recognize our place in this society and to challenge the way that we are expected operate within it. Collaborating with and learning from those who center Black and Indigenous voices is just one small way that we can be a part of the future we want to see.

From now until Monday, we pledge to redistribute 10% of our sales to the Black Hives Matter Project and to DIGDEEP Navajo Water Project.

I hope you’ll take the pledge with us. Shopping with businesses who have taken the pledge is one way to participate, but I urge you read, listen, learn (& unlearn) all that you can around this time. The quote above from is one that rings so true - we have to recognize the truth before we can heal.  Let’s start here.

✨ Color Magic βœ¨β€‰

We’ve been working on some digital renderings of our product photos that we took earlier this year to try and showcase the color options better on the site.

Each slide shows a little bit of the process: the first photo shows the closest we’ve gotten up to this point, the second photo shows the first try which ended up a little dark and a little too blue, and the third photo shows the original.

I’ve been going back and forth between working up the photos like this or putting customer photos or flat lays of the dresses in the actual colors up on the site instead.. what do you think? Would you rather see the Wrap Dress in the color options in different settings? Or should we use an image to highlight and work it digitally?

Let me know! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ I’m leaning toward the former, but I can’t deny the gratification of seeing the color come through with each little tweak in photoshop πŸ€“

When I launched in April I wasn’t going into it with the standard idea of launching a new brand. There were things that needed to be included in this maiden launch that I knew I wouldn’t be carrying over into following collections. It was very much about paying homage to the hardship I had endured and the lessons I had learned leading up to that point.

This illustration is one that embodies small moments when I was able to find my creative spark, lying deep underneath my strong yet fragile exterior in my hardest moments. I would find myself getting lost in the clouds of Ferdinand, dreaming up silhouettes in the garden of Moominvalley, and seeking joyful campy goodness in the absurdity of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (can you find the hot dog?).

We made totes and postcards with this illustration for the Kickstarter campaign to highlight this aspect of my journey. When Kari of was printing the totes she threw a ringer tee into the mix as a little gift to me. This illustration is a visual stamp of all that helped to build a bridge from my despair back to my creative mind and I just really cherish this simple little tee.

As we move forward with new collections and aesthetics this illustration will always be at the heart of it all. It’s this feeling of hope and beauty and light within darkness that is at the core of fig nine. I hope you can feel it, too.

Happy peaceful Sunday to you, my friends βœ¨β€‰

Karlee in Rust 😍 giving the Fall-est of feels in our hometown of Butte, Montana.

Sometimes it’s wild to be in such a small town. There’s a way of life here that you won’t find living in any larger town or city. It’s simplified. Even wilder though, is how this little town comes together to support each other. Even for a gal like me just tryin to change the way we dress.

Shucks. I love this little town.

And !

ID: Karlee wears the Wrap Dress in Rust. She’s looking at the camera with her hands in the oversized pockets her dress and looking sultry and fall-ish. She has short curly hair, glasses, a black shirt and orange pants.

The third and final batch of these babies is heading out this week!!

It has been a pretty magical experience to be sending these out. It’s hard work, but we (and that includes you, my friends!) are laying the foundation for something great.

Have you already received your dress? Send pics! 😏 Or comment below and tell us something you love about your Wrap Dress πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ§‘

This morning we picked up the last of the Wrap Dresses from our production partner, Laura (intro to come!) in Belgrade, MT. We’ve been having the most incredible fall in Montana this year and this photo is how the drive felt but could never be replicated with my wobbly phone on the dashboard.

I’ll be shipping out ALL the Wrap Dresses by the end of the month and I πŸ‘πŸΌ am πŸ‘πŸΌ so πŸ‘πŸΌ ex πŸ‘πŸΌ cited πŸ‘πŸΌβ€‰

In other news, the newsletter went out earlier this week with updates and musings and if you’re on the mailing list you already knew that.

If you’re not on the mailing list, wut? Head to our site and fill out the prompt, or hit me up in my DM’s 😏 and I’ll sign you up.

Love you love you πŸ§‘β€‰

You know what?

I’m overwhelmed.

Between getting these orders out (finally!) and a day job (I think I’m not supposed to tell you all that I have a day job? πŸ€”), a kid in kindergarten with unexpected remote learning days, starting therapy (crying in the middle of the day has proven to make me much more tired in the evening, who knew?), doc appts, work appts, creative appts, breakfast, lunch, dinner and the list goes on (and on and on) - everything is just, a lot.

There’s a part of me that wants to conclude this with some flowery notion about how I’ll find my balance and figure this all out and be more present real soon. But the reality is I have to take a slower approach to this endeavor and I won’t let the pressures of capitalism fool me into thinking I need to do more than I can handle to meet a false standard of β€˜making it’.

I know the real ones are here for the long haul. I also know that going ~slow~ is part of what challenges the current way of doing things. So, as much I am in a constant back and forth of feeling the need to do more and feeling the need to rest and recuperate, I tend to lean toward the latter. I hope you’re all doing the same, if that’s what you need.

To moving forward, and also to standing still.

Today I’m 34 πŸŒžβ€‰

34 is such an arbitrary number. Between 30 and 40, really who cares? But I thought I’d share a few points of interest of entering my mid-30s with you anyhow:

I find joy in the simple things: a nicely vacuumed rug, sitting in a sunbeam, silence.

I mainly listen to ambient instrumental music.

I eat Tums on a regular basis.

My skincare regimen is ever-expanding.

But also..

I feel more connected with nature than I ever have before.

I can really feel myself becoming more and more of who I am. Settling into my soul a little deeper each day, each year.

Growing old is a privilege that I am honored to have. I’m grateful to be here on this Earth, in this realm, and to be able to share it with you.

Cheers to another solar return, friends. Thanks for sharing it with me. πŸ§‘β€‰
