After 11 years, I’m sharing something that’s both emotional and (if I’m being honest), freeing… I’ve decided to close Cheyenne’s Boutique.
For over a decade, and especially those first several years, this boutique has been my entire world - 7 days a week, early mornings, late nights, every thought, every ounce of energy poured into making it what it became. It wasn’t just a business… it was my life, my routine, and my identity.
You know how some people take a bath to relax? My bath time has frequently consisted of placing orders to keep merchandise stocked in between market trips. Our summer lake weekends have been filled with phone calls, emails, and re-ordering inventory numerous times. I know I may not be the one checking you out in store anymore but the work never stops when you own your own business.
One hard truth about running a business while raising a family is that you can’t give 100% to everything all the time! Some days your business gets the best of you, and other days your family does. And then there are days where it feels like neither got the version of you that you wanted to give.
On top of that, our family’s life looks
SO different than it did 11 years ago! Between raising three boys, church, school, sports and all the little moments that make up this season of life, our calendar stays full. At the same time, running a small business has become more demanding in certain ways. Finding and keeping the right team, making sure the store is cared for the way I always wanted it to be, and carrying the weight that ultimately falls back on the owner has become increasingly challenging. And I reached a point where I realized I couldn’t keep pouring so much of myself into both without something or someone, missing out.
But somewhere along the way ESPECIALLY the last 9-12 months, I realized how full my mind always is. Always thinking, always planning the next season or event, always “on.” And as much as I love this boutique, I’m ready to move on and to truly enjoy the moments with the people who matter most.
This decision was not easy! I have been back and forth for a year now. Pros and cons lists, prayer, so much thought. It also came with tears, reflection, and a lot of honesty with myself. But I know it’s time to free up my mind, my heart, and my time for a new chapter filled with a little more peace! (And some exciting things to come for our family!!!)
To everyone who has supported me over the years - every purchase, every message, every share - THANK YOU!!! You helped build something beautiful, and I will forever be grateful for that and for each of you who I’ve met along the way!!
I’m incredibly proud of everything this boutique has been and everything it gave our family! Here’s to closing a chapter that shaped me in so many ways.
