One of the things you may not see happening behind the scenes at Bubbles & Bean is where items go that don’t sell, or that we can’t put on the sales floor. ♻️
Sometimes it’s a small stain, a missing button, or another little imperfection that makes an item unsalable, but still completely usable. Rather than see those things go to waste, we try to find places in our community where they can still be useful.
Throughout the year, that looks a little different depending on what we have and where there’s a need. We regularly donate to the SOS Room down the road, and earlier this year more than 1,000 items went to the Lincolnville Central School Clothing Swap. This summer, we sent bins of clothing to New Hope Midcoast for their Shop for Hope event. Just last week, a bin of bedding went to PAWS Animal Adoption Center Maine Animal Shelter, and this week, we were able to pass along diapers and postpartum supplies to AIO Food and Energy Assistance. Today, we’re passing along old baby clothing and essentials for the upcoming Healthy Kids Midcoast Community Baby Shower on September 19.
It’s one of those parts of Bubbles & Bean that we don’t talk about very often, but it’s something we really value. These items still have life in them, and we’d much rather see them help a family, a child, an animal, or another organization than go to waste.
We’re grateful to have so many wonderful organizations in our community doing meaningful work, and to play such a small part 💛
