This beautiful bridesmaid dress needed the sides to be taken in a lot! It also needed the side of the strap closest to the arm moved because it's practically in the armpit (even before being taken in) and the side of the strap closest to the zipper reduced. I have the exact same dress in green that has the same strap issue, which leads me to believe it's kind of a design flaw. So if you're a bridesmaid this year, just be aware that you will likely need wor k on these straps if you choose this dress.

Having the proper equipment to do an alterations job is essential! You can NOT hem stretchy knit fabric that will be getting a lot of use with a traditional straight stitch! You can use a zig zag stitch, however, the point of alterations is to return the item looking like you never touched it, it just fits perfectly. The original hems were coverstitched, so zig zag stitch would have not matched, and wouldn't be a great choice for alterations.
