My Kinda Town
Foundation Paper Piecing Retreat
October 9-11, 2026
Fluffy’s Quilt Patch Plus Retreat House will once again be the setting for a fabulous Foundation Paper Piecing Retreat in October of 2026.
Not sure about foundation paper piecing? New to it? Need a refresher? Not a problem! Love foundation paper piecing and just want to devote some time to it? This is the retreat for you!
You will have the option to begin to piece Peggy Larsen’s My Kinda Town. This is a jaw-dropping quilt with eight whimsical paper pieced buildings. If you choose to create My Kinda Town, you will receive errata sheets, specific instructions, and cutting lists provided by the retreat leader.
My Kinda Town is an involved project, which is unlikely to be completed in a weekend. You will be able to complete several of the buildings, and leave with solid skills and confidence to piece the rest on your own.
You may also wish to BYOP (bring your own project). Fluffy’s Quilt Patch Plus is right next door to the retreat center for all your fabric needs and notions.
Whichever project you choose, your retreat leader Jane will be available throughout the weekend for instruction, support, and rescues as needed.
What’s included:
• Two nights accommodations at Fluffy’s Quilt Patch Retreat House (Friday October 9th and Saturday October 10th) in beautiful Canandaigua, New York
• Sewing space for three days:
o Friday, October 9th the retreat house will be available starting at 9:30 am
o The retreat officially kicks off at 11 am on Friday
o You may sew as much (or as little) as you wish from Friday through Sunday
o The retreat officially closes on Sunday, October 11th at 3 pm
• Meals:
o Dinner provided on Friday
o Breakfast and dinner provided on Saturday
o Breakfast provided on Sunday
o Bring your own lunch food, snacks, and beverages (coffee/tea are provided)
• Instruction as needed/desired throughout the weekend
o Directions for organization and preparation of foundations will be sent to participants upon complete payment
o Hints for piecing
o Specific lessons for odd angles and directional fabric
o Foundation piecing lessons as needed/requested
• Cutting lists and errata sheets for My Kinda Town quilt pattern
• Games and prizes
• Discounted shopping at Fluffy’s Quilt Patch Plus
• My Kinda Town will be available for purchase from Fluffy’s Quilt Patch Plus
• A copier will be available, with a per-copy fee
Registration Details
• Minimum of 6 quilters needed for registration; maximum of 9. Registrations must be received by September 4th. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the retreat will not be held.
• Total fee is $275, payable as follows:
o Deposit of $50 due upon registration (no later than September 4th). Cash, check, or charge are acceptable forms of payment for deposit.
o Final payment, in the form of cash or check only, of $225 due by Friday, September 18th. Credit card payment is $240.
• Refund Policy:
o Deposits are not refundable. A deposit indicates that you WILL attend, and that you agree to pay the balance by the due date.
o If you must cancel your reservation, your payment will be refunded IF and only if:

▪ There is a waiting list and we are able to find a replacement for you

About your retreat leader: Jane Beamish can’t even remember how or when she fell into foundation paper piecing, but she hasn’t looked back. She has been teaching foundation paper piecing since 2018. A student recently referred to her as “the Jedi Master” of foundation piecing. While that may be going a bit overboard, she has learned a few tips and tricks along the way, and enjoys sharing those with her classes. Odd angles, directional fabric, and tiny pieces no longer scare her!
