Welcome!

NSC is a project started in November 2019 in Astoria, Oregon that aims to keep clothing out of landfills and connect families to hand-me-down cycles- someone is always having a baby or growing out of their britches!

There are simple rules:
Be kind and communicate politely. If your neighbor offered you a meal, you wouldn't respond with "interested!"- so please don't comment that here, either. Include details in your response along the lines of "This is something we can use- I can pick up tomorrow" or "can I send you a message?"
And please say something to your neighbor if you can't pick up when you said you would- it's ok, it happens to everyone!

No gatekeeping- household incomes go up and down or families go through periods where they need to save money for an expense. No one will be turned away. It's ok to look for clothing for a friend or family member or for a baby on the way! There's plenty to go around - the main thing I will get strict about is NO STOCKPILING. This looks like people collecting large amounts clothing that isn't for a specific person. This is not the page to collect clothing for future yard sales or storage.

This is a gifting group- nothing here is for sale.

Please do not direct people to post on another group. As helpful as you think it could be, you are essentially suggesting that the person looking for clothing and baby gear isn't welcome or that they aren't bright enough to check all their resources.

If you see something wrong, tag me and I'll see it and handle it.

Let's focus on keeping clothing and usable kid gear out of the landfill and connecting as a community. Thank you!
