Your eyes have their own built-in protective reflex—even when you’re not thinking about them. 👀

When you close your eyelids, your eyes naturally tend to rotate slightly upward. Known as **Bell’s phenomenon**, this reflex helps position the sensitive front surface of the eye safely behind the upper eyelid.

Light passing through the lens of your eye creates an inverted image on the retina. From there, visual signals travel to the brain, where they’re processed into the familiar world you experience.

👁️ That dark circle in the center of your eye may look solid, but there’s actually nothing black there!

Think of your pupil a little like the opening of a camera—it’s the pathway light uses to enter the eye. And depending on how bright your surroundings are, that opening automatically gets larger or smaller to control how much light gets through.

Such a simple-looking part of the eye is doing a pretty important job every second you’re awake!
