"Oh my God, Becky, look at that hat! It is sooo cute!" 😅

Can you believe I rescued these two fabrics from two different sellers?? They look like they were made for each other! And the sequined pink butterflies that were already embroidered into the fabric? *Chef's kiss* 😘

This hat and I were having a few disagreements yesterday, so we slept on it overnight and decided to finish it today 🤣 The bold boho print paired with a green ditsy floral makes for a fun, versatile bucket hat. Of course I'm partial to a bright Kelly green as it reminds me of all things Ireland ❤️ It will soon make its way to Chincoteague for Alice G's Artworks + Delectables!

Summer isn't just for bright colors and quiet pastels. This abstract floral paired with a black, yellow, or white sundress would create an absolutely timeless look. I even changed up the threading on the brim for an extra pop of fun. The black-and-white polka dot on the opposite side allows the wearer to dress it up or down depending on the occasion. My friend Cathy Nunya fell in love with one of my recent hats, so she decided to order a custom design of her own. I knew she adored the floral fabric I used on the other hat, so I pulled a selection of fabrics that would work on the reverse side. Cathy chose the purple paisley as her coordinating fabric for a fedora-style bucket hat. Plus, since she drove an hour to get here, we spent some time drinking tea and catching up together 🥰 I'm looking forward to working on her hat after I finish my next shipment for Alice G's!

This hat just might be the "diamond of the season." I fancy myself a fabric rescuer, sourcing most of my materials from Marketplace, thrift shops, yard sales, etc. When my Mom and I found this maroon plaid and a set of floral curtains at the fleamarket, we knew they'd be a perfect match.

Unfortunately, after washing them, a few dark marks remained on the plaid, and it was a relatively small piece of fabric to work with. But I really, really wanted to pair these beauties together.

So what did I do? I created a few applique pieces from the floral fabric and hand-stitched them over a couple marks on the brim. After sewing everything together, I realized I couldn't just skip over the applique pieces for the final stitching, because then I'd have empty spaces on the reverse side. I therefore decided to change the thread color each time I went over an applique so the colors would coordinate. That was no small feat!

The result celebrates everything we love about the cottage core aesthetic, and I can't wait to send this hat to Alice G's Artworks + Delectables​ 😍

Flowers and snails are typically a losing combination, but this hat is a winner! The watercolor floral, adorable snail print, dark denim, and aqua cotton make for a unique hat that will draw compliments wherever the wearer goes 🥰 Bonus photo of a sweet little snail I found in our garden recently! As a general rule, I don't duplicate my hats. It's part of what makes them special! But when my bestie Carol McQueen-Lawton fell in love with this style already promised to Alice G's Artworks + Delectables, I agreed to make one for her as well. The sherbet orange and vintage floral pair perfectly together, and I know Carol will look adorable while she's gardening this spring and summer 🥰 Now I just have to trust that whoever buys this design in Chincoteague doesn't happen to run into Carol while they're both wearing the same hat 🤣 🤞
