It’s World Breastfeeding Week, so we thought it was the perfect time to reintroduce the IBCLCs of Babies in Bloom. 🤍

We’re Rochelle and Juliana, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, and while lactation is our profession, caring for families is very much the heart of what we do.

Rochelle has spent over 20 years as an IBCLC, supporting families both in the hospital and in private practice. She founded Babies in Bloom in 2007 with the belief that new parents deserve knowledgeable, compassionate support—and a place where they can ask questions, be heard, and never feel judged for how feeding is going.

Juliana brings that same warmth and practical, family-centered approach to every visit. Whether she’s helping with a latch, working through feeding challenges, making a home visit, or teaching new parents what to expect, her goal is always to help families feel more confident when they leave than when they arrived.

Our philosophy is simple: there is no one “right” breastfeeding journey.

Some families exclusively breastfeed. Some pump. Some supplement. Some combination feed. Some have a beautifully easy beginning, and others have a much more complicated road.

Our job isn’t to tell you what your feeding journey should look like.

It’s to listen to what YOU want, help figure out what may be getting in the way, give you evidence-based guidance and realistic options, and support you in making the choices that work best for your baby and your family.

Because lactation care should never leave you feeling pressured or inadequate.

It should leave you feeling supported, informed, and a little more confident in yourself. 💛

That’s why we do this work.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week from Rochelle & Juliana at Babies in Bloom. 🌿

Let’s talk nursing essentials — the ones we actually recommend. 🌸

After 20+ years working with breastfeeding families, I’ve learned what actually works well — not just what’s trending this month. So today I am sharing my real picks: the nursing bras that hold up wash after wash, the pumps we actually recommend to clients, the pillows worth the investment — and a few things we tell people to skip.

Everything we recommend is here because we’ve either used it ourselves, fitted a client in it, or watched it work over and over across two decades of feeding journeys. Trendy isn’t the bar — proven is.

See more of our favorites in stories, or send us a DM if you’re not sure what’s right for you. 💕

A deep latch can make all the difference—for both comfort and milk transfer.
One of the biggest reasons we see pain with breastfeeding is positioning. Small changes in how you bring baby to the breast can make a huge difference in reducing ni**le pain and helping baby latch more deeply and feed more effectively.
Start by focusing on these three simple steps:
• Tummy to tummy
• Nose to ni**le
• Bring baby in quickly from the shoulders (not the back of the head!)
Sometimes just one small adjustment can completely change a feeding.
Save this reel for your next nursing session, and share it with an expecting or new parent who could use it.
Have questions about your baby’s latch? We’d love to help! 💛

Breastfeeding comes with a lot of advice… and not all of it is true.

From “your baby is eating too often” to “you don’t make enough milk because you only pumped an ounce,” these myths can leave parents feeling anxious and second-guessing themselves.

The truth? Every feeding journey is unique, and there’s so much misinformation out there.

Swipe through to bust some of the most common breastfeeding myths we hear in our office every week.

Which myth have you heard—or even believed? Let us know in the comments!

World Breastfeeding Week starts today — and this week is for you. 🌸

I started Babies in Bloom back in 2006 because I saw so many families enter parenthood with more questions than answers about feeding. As an IBCLC, childbirth educator, and doula, I wanted North County families to have somewhere to turn that felt like a resource — a place to get real, judgment-free support when things get hard.

Whether you’re deep in the newborn haze, months into your feeding journey, exclusively pumping, combo feeding, or supporting someone who is — you belong here.

All week we’re sharing the tips we give in real consults, the myths we hear most often, and the honest truth about what breastfeeding actually looks like. No judgment, no one right way — just support.

Drop a 🌸 in the comments if you’re in the thick of it right now, and follow along all week. 💕

If you feel like a stranger in your own life lately — you’re not alone, and nothing is wrong with you. 🤍

Becoming a mom doesn’t just change your schedule. It reshuffles your body, your energy, your friendships, your relationship, your sense of who you are. You can be completely in love with your baby and still grieve the person you used to be. Both things can be true at once.

This has a name — matrescence — the identity shift into motherhood. It’s as real as adolescence, and just as disorienting. And just like adolescence, it’s temporary. The fog lifts. You come back to yourself, changed but whole, and so many moms tell us they actually like who they become on the other side.

If you’re in the thick of it right now, you don’t have to figure it out solo. Come find your people at The Hive on Tuesdays, or reach out anytime. 💛

Drop a 🤍 if you’ve felt this lately.
