Here they are as promised! Five beautiful new fabrics in the shop, all from
Jeweled dragonflies. Filagree and delicate flowers trimmed with gold.
Leaves in shades of seafoam.
Grasses and golden seeds on a comfortably blue bed.
My favorite is the sage Batik with the softest Southwest pattern.
I see dresses, blouses, men's short & long sleeve casual shirts, light jackets and lounge pants.

Oh my! I have enough of this amazing print to make 1 dress, 4 short sleeve or two long sleeve shirts. 100% premium cotton sheeting.

Being a size 2 does not mean everything always fits perfectly. Catalina's mail order gown was too long in the torso and a smidgeon too small. She needed that length removed and just a little breathing room. The fabric rose, which lay at mid-thigh on her, was raised to hip high, shortening the bodice and adding deep layers of luxurious rouching. Antique hook and eye were attached along the side zipper and laced with two ribbons of different shades and textures.
All those layers and folds gave the bride places to hide tiny stars, planets and sea creatures for the groom discover later.

On the table today, a curvy new dress for a curvy new figure!
This lady has been working hard and decided a new dress was the carrot for shedding those last few pounds. She was right! I took it down 2 sizes from the first fitting !
This dress is full of pizazz! I can't wait to see her wear it.

A quick and economical method to "let out" a many layered gown is to install a corset back. There are many types and finishes. Even kits. This ribbon style leaves the zipper in place and can be laced at 1" or 2" depending on how much skin one is comfortable showing.

A new iron! And, a Maytag at that! Ironing is so integral to my work, an iron is nearly in constant use.
That said, regardless of what I spend, I have never had an iron last more than a year. So, I am excited to see how this new Maytag does the job.

I have never shopped at Saks Fifth Avenue, but as a maker, I know that back in the day, Saks and Neiman's were "it" for quality and style.
I found this made for Saks, cap sleeve, hand beaded, silk lined top at a thrift store in Livingston, Montana during the and had to buy it. The lining and zipper were installed by hand. There are so mnay beads it must weigh 3lbs. I am thinking it was made 1935-1940. At $35 it was a steal.
This top is a beautiful piece of work created when craftmanship mattered all the time. Then and now, makers believe you are buying their name and reputation.
Buying handmade, direct from the maker still ensures you get quality products which can be loved and used ninety years later.
