Thanks for taking a few minutes out of your day to learn more about us and how Blueberry Hill came to be. Our little shop was born out of both creativity and necessity. When most businesses temporarily shut down in early 2020, so did the local real estate office my husband works for. As most of you know, a Real Estate Broker’s business primarily depends on accessibility and communication with clie
nts. Unfortunately, our home is very rural and could not support his business needs during the Pandemic. Our house sits in the middle of nowhere, on a hill and with a large blueberry garden (that’s how I came up with the name). The plan was simply to lease an office space close to home with internet capability. Within a week we secured an office location at The Crossroads Plaza in Castle Rock. The rented space came with a small store front. The Dreamer Spirit in both of us began to mull over some creative opportunities for the space. We ultimately decided to open a simple shop to share a few of my paintings and to sell some of our antiques. I’ve been a Closet-Painter for many years and have always enjoyed being creative (aside from having a day job). Most of the antiques and vintage pieces had just been accumulating over the years in our garage or stashed in various nooks and crannies. Collecting old junk is one of our favorite pastimes. We’ve always gotten excited about going to local antique shops or on day-trip adventures to find pieces… you never know what you’ll find. Our idea for the shop was to create a cozy atmosphere for you to enjoy a cup of coffee and hopefully send you home with a new favorite treasure. When we originally opened Blueberry Hill Art’s and Antiques, we were only open on Saturdays. It was more of a hobby and a fun little place to hang-out. As with most ideas, the original vision has evolved into much more than just Art and Antiques and more than just Saturdays. For those of you that are not familiar with our shop, Blueberry Hill is now a collective blend of old and new. The antiques we put in our shop might be dusty and rusty or pretty and polished; either way, we have a little something for every taste. In addition to our vintage treasures, we have a wide assortment of new and creative items. We offer everything from lovely stationery and stickers to small-scale eclectic furniture and home décor. The handmade scented candles, delicious jams and tasty baked goods are also a hit with our customers. We’ve not only expanded inventory, we have also increased the shop hours to be open four days per week Thursday-Sunday. Come by the shop, get a cup of coffee and say hello, we’d love to see you!
