Sometimes it’s just a simple design we need to get done. Nothing elaborate. No need for an Art Director. Nothing that needs three days of staring at a screen, twelve different versions, a lengthy discussion about whether something should move three pixels to the left, or one of us eventually saying “screw it, the first one was better.”
Sometimes you just need a finger pointing in a direction.
That way. More vendors.
That’s it. That’s the assignment.
So we drew the finger, cleaned up the finger, turned the finger into a proper file, cut it out of some vinyl and stuck it on a coroplast sign. Now we have a sign whose entire purpose in life is to stand somewhere Sunday and politely — but firmly — tell you that there are more vendors over there.
Which, now that we think about it, is probably considerably more effort than anyone has ever put into saying “go that way.”
But that’s what happens around here. A simple little sign somehow becomes a design, the design gets a number, the number goes on the social media post, and now you’re reading several paragraphs about a pointing finger that we could have explained with an arrow.

See? Could’ve saved everybody some time.
Anyway, follow the finger. Come see this thing in action Sunday at Castroville BBQ Co.'s 3rd Sunday Market from 11–2. Apparently they’re expecting enough vendors this time that pointing people toward MORE VENDORS has become an actual problem requiring signage, which seems like a pretty good problem to have.
And since we’ve now devoted this much time and energy to a sign with a giant pointing finger on it, we might as well get some mileage out of the thing. Find the sign Sunday, take a selfie with it, post it on social media and tag Overholt Supply Co. Show us the post and we’ll give you 10% off your purchase in the shop that day.
Yes, we are now bribing you to take pictures with our directional signage.
We regret nothing.
