Birthday Girls, A "Mask-erade, and Doing what we can~

These two share their birthdays, April 23, and we just celebrated with a "Mask-erade," family only, party!

We are doing what we can during this time of crisis: working, praying, giving and celebrating.

It has been hard for us, knowing that others around the world are suffering, and the worst that we are experiencing is that.... we can't socialize in a normal way ;-/
As a family, we are striving to keep our minds and hearts in the right place, that of thankfulness for our blessings and being aware of others' suffering.
Thinking of, and praying for others keeps us from whining about our in-conveniences.
Working on these masks and giving to those who need them, is just one way to make a difference, a tiny part that we can play in this time of suffering and uncertainty.
As a family we took up an offering for a ministry in India that is dedicated to helping the poorest of poor with food and shelter. Dan and I were truly blessed and encouraged by our girls generosity!
And, like Ecclesiastes says, there is a time for everything~ we celebrate God's gift of these two beautiful young ladies, who are cheerful and willing to have a party where everyone had to wear face masks!

Hope this is ok to share....I'm not used posting personal things...this is my business page and all ;-)

Work Horses!
Thought I would show off my three "Girls!"
During this time crisis and the need for mass production of safety masks, I have all three out and running!

This Elna Jubile is the backbone of my business; I purchased it used, right after Dan and I were married (27+ years ago) and it has sewn miles and miles. I have run this homemaker's machine like a factory piece and it has delivered!
"Little Black" is a Singer Feather-weight. I literally learned to sew on one just like it. I remember doing piece-work for my mom's velvet business on her "Little Black" when I was in 3rd grade. My girls all have used this one ;-).
Finally, the big Mamma is an industrial added to my collection about 6 months ago (my mom insisted that I take her extra machine, what a gift!) Now this is real factory action! The thing has a motor that hums non-stop and it will sew through anything, at a 100 miles per hour! Keep your fingers back! It is great for making those theater curtain capes, no thickness is too thick! And now, dealing with the extra thick folds in the medical masks, she is the one that I go to.
It is fun to see them all out and running! We are truly busy, and blessed to have the right tools for the job!

50 masks this afternoon! Go to Fashion Forward masks to get yours ;-)

So far, we have given away 159 of these masks to nursing homes, medical workers, teachers and ones in compromised health condition.... and we are still in production!

It is a blessing to play a tiny part in "The Cause"❤️

These are some of the newer masks, with extra protection and made specifically for medical workers.

So...What has Starlite'sChild been up to? (Actually Starlite and her girls ;-))

Not bonnets this time!

Years ago, a dear friend gave me and my girls a whole tub of scraps from her Hawaiian shirt business. These have been awesome as my girls have used them make all kinds of creations from pillows, to sachets, hot/cold packs, quilts etc...They have been Wonderful resource for learning to sew!
Now......we are making face masks for the elderly!
We are super blessed and excited to be helping in a time of such dire need!

86 masks in one afternoon/evening!

This little sweetie is sitting in the spring grass with her bunnies and showing off one of my hand-dyed, vintage damask, bonnet and pantaloon sets.
