Do anyone else's hands look like mine this time of year?! I tend to think I can be in the garden for only a couple minutes and won't get dirty and as you can tell that doesn't really happen...
That's why I absolutely love the Scrubby Soaps that I sell! They are a soap and sponge built together and really get in there and get all the stuff off my hands, from dirt to paint and everything in-between. They make them in a variety of smells but I love this one! And the goat's milk keeps my hands from getting super dry and nasty. The best news today is that I have restocked paint as well as Scrubby Soaps in my booth at Vintage Market just in time for Houby Days!

Another shout out as we close this chapter - This is Mama Deb. Many of you know her smiling face from the store but may not know that this lady right here has been my right hand for the last 5 years - she has helped me out by working at the store, being my sounding board, saving my tail countless times and keeping me sane! So I wanted to make sure I properly thanked her and let the world know how much I have appreciated her over all this time!
And that's a wrap folks. Thank you all for a great 5 1/2 years. I have had great vendors, amazing customers, and met some awesome friends along the way! We had some scary times through Covid and the Derecho, stressful times, and fun over the top times like Cider Stroll and Tiki Tours! I cannot express how much I appreciate you and the support you have given us all these years. Special thanks to all of my helpers throughout the years especially the crazy lady in this picture with me - who has been the driving force behind some of our craziest moments!

I know everyone has the winter blahs and is lacking motivation to get out and about but I have some motivation for you - you only have 11 days to get out and find a unique gift for that someone special for this Valentines! Today is going to be a perfect day to come down to the Village and avoid the basics of stuffed animals and cards and find something that truly speaks to your Valentine.
We are open today between 10:00 and 5:00 so stop down while the weather is nice because you just never know, it's Iowa and mother nature can be finicky.
What projects have you been working on on these dreary winter days? Myself, I've been working on a dresser conversion project with an extremely old, used and abused dresser. It is super dry and cracked in a couple places but it doesn't mean that it's done. If I have not talked to you about the Dixie Belle product Big Mama's Butta lately, now is the time! It is a conditioner that brings life back to wood and also helps take out the smell of that old wood.
Just look at the difference between these two drawers. They were in the exact same condition but the one has been treated with the Butta in the Fresh and Clean scent (which is amazing by the way!) It is amazing to see the before and after and I had to show it to you! Pictures don't even do it justice, it's so good!
If you have the winter blahs and are tired of looking at all the boring furniture you have, now is the perfect time to start a project with Dixie Belle products. Christmas is over and this January is rough! I definitely feel the need to get out and about. The weather is not completely letting up but today looks like the best day this week to do just that which is perfect as we will be there from 12:00 to 5:00 today!

It's darn cold out but we will be at the store from 11-3 today (cabin fever has hit Marna too!). Traveling on the highway sounds like a bad idea but if you are feeling adventurous and can do it safely, come on down and say hi and buy a few things if you can - this weather is definitely not good for business.
I have not seen this much snow piled up since I moved to Cedar Rapids 14 years ago but here it is. I decided to come in for a while today because my husband was awesome and got us out of the house (I had some cabin fever!), but it is blowing around out there and temps are dropping! If you feel the need to come out and about, I will be here for a while but call ahead to make sure I haven't taken off early. The store's number is 319-200-4298.
The back parking lot is definitely the best place to park but beware using the sidewalk between us and the next business as there are some deathcicles and lots of ice between the two, so please feel free to use the back door.
We will be closed Friday 1/12/24 - stay safe and warm and home if you can.
I know it has stopped snowing, but there is a lot of digging out to be done (especially by me!), so let's just hold off another day. The forecast for this week and next are super wintery so keep your eyes on here for updates.
