Dyeing July 25

It has been such a hot summer with heat being high 90’s to 100’s. Too dangerous to be outside for any length of time. But today, July 25, it cooled down to perfect weather without humidity.  Finally, a chance to make some color. The textiles floating while drying are various shades of yellow and chlorophyll over dyed  with indigo. The printed blue scarf is just indigo.

One of my favorite birds - the chickadee - inspired this piece.

An aqua blue watercolor background hosts a chickadee, foliage, and exotic perfume bottles among swirls of galaxies on this silk scarf. I designed this wrap scarf in Photoshop using the paint brushes to create washes of color for the background. I applied artwork via clipart to the Photoshop canvas. The design was printed on a digital printer.
