About a year ago, Charlie sat down with Marcelo of Softwaves with an idea: take the spirit of the iconic Softwaves style that helped put the brand on the map, slim it down, and rebuild it on a sleek, modern sneaker construction.

That idea became Desta.

Charlie and Courtnay traveled to the Softwaves family factory outside Porto, Portugal, to work through the details in person—talking materials, proportions, construction, and all the little decisions that turn a sketch into a shoe.

This carousel is a look behind the scenes: handwritten notes, early iterations, factory photos, and moments from Portugal that show how Desta came to life.

The result is something we’re incredibly proud of:
