Chattooine started out as a Star Wars Fanforce and has developed into an all Fandom group for everyone to hang out and experience good times with friends and like fanpeeps. Star Wars FanForce is a feature of TheForce.net, one of the oldest and most visited fan-run Star Wars news websites,and is dedicated to helping Star Wars fans to meet and interact with other fans in their local community. FanForce is led by one or more Chapter Representatives who are responsible for the organization of group events. The Chattooine Outer Rim Lookouts is the officially recognized FanForce chapter for Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chattooine is a non-profit club comprised of individuals who enjoy the Star Wars films, other aspects of the Star Wars franchise, and other aspects of science fiction. It was created in order to give fans in the Chattanooga area a chance to socialize and engage in activities relating to the varied aspects of the Star Wars franchise. We strive to keep Star Wars and Science Fiction alive in the eyes of the Chattanooga community and surrounding areas, and endeavor to give back to the community through charitable events. As the Chattooine family grew, so did its interests and influence. Chattooine has embraced all kinds of costuming and charity functions. From Harry Potter to Pirates, Muppets to Masquerade Balls, convention organizers, Halloween enthusiasts, and even anime, Chattooine is THE place to go to get your geeky fix.

Yayoi Kusama, Japanese artist who became a global superstar, dies aged 97

Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese outsider artist who reached superstar status after decades living in a psychiatric hospital, has died aged 97.

Kusama died in a Tokyo hospital on 14 August, her company Yayoi Kusama Inc announced in a statement on Thursday.

Samuel Monroe Jr. has sadly passed away at the age of 52 following a long and devastating battle with meningitis, his mother announced.

Horror audiences will remember him as Bulldog in the 1995 cult anthology TALES FROM THE HOOD, while his career also included memorable performances in MENACE II SOCIETY, SET IT OFF and THE PLAYERS CLUB.

His family said the infection went untreated for months after repeated misdiagnoses, eventually spreading to his brain and spine. He remained on life support while facing further complications, including MRSA pneumonia.

Samuel Monroe Jr. brought an unforgettable presence to every role he played. Rest in peace to another talented actor taken far too soon.

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

At Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly’s fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com
