A few weeks ago I visited Chelmsford Town Hall to pay a dog license fee. As I waited for my receipt I noticed a BIG, beautiful picture of the old tree which had lived on the Chelmsford Common for so, so many years. I remember as a kid playing at the base of that tree and on the steps of the Revolutionary Monument with my siblings during outdoor concerts, while my parents would sit on the grass listening to the band play patriotic tunes. Like many Chelmsford High School graduates, I also fondly remember gathering at the Common for prom pictures; dressed to the nines, arranging ourselves in neat rows on the steps in front of the Revolutionary Monument while our parents snap pictures. My head now full of memories and nostalgia, I turned to my sketchbook and began to put my ideas down on paper.
After much work, I created a design which pays homage to the town's rich, colonial history. I paired a recognizable town landmark, the Revolutionary Monument, with our zip code, substituting my simplified monument icon in place of the number one. The pigment-dyed garment colors add to the historical flavor. I sincerely hope you enjoy the design and consider making a purchase!
