July 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM, I lost my soul dog. 🤍🌈
Just two weeks ago, Chapo started showing signs of IVDD. Even after he became paralyzed, I never lost hope that we’d get him walking again.
After countless trips to the neurologist and emergency vet, we learned something much worse was happening. There was free fluid throughout his abdomen, and his little body was shutting down. By his final day, he couldn’t eat, couldn’t go to the bathroom on his own, was vomiting, trembling, and I could see the pain in his eyes.
My husband and I made the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully.
Nothing could have prepared me for the pain of leaving without him.
Chapo wasn’t just my dog—he was my soul dog.
For the last three years, we were inseparable. He was with me through every milestone, every hardship, every quiet moment. If he wasn’t glued to my side, he was soaking up the sun—his favorite place in the world. He had the sweetest soul and somehow even made people who were afraid of dogs fall in love with him.
Every corner of my home reminds me of my boy.
I’m finding comfort in knowing that my face was the last one he saw, my voice was the last one he heard, and my hugs were the last thing he felt. If there was one thing Chapo ever needed, it was for me to be by his side. And I was.
Run free, my sweet boy. I hope you’re chasing the sunshine again with Jax.
I will love you forever, Chapo.
Please visit me in my dreams. 🤍🌈
