Krusty Tubs is an online emporium dedicated to providing vintage drums, cymbals, and percussion equipment to working drummers and collectors. If you have any questions, particularly about the condition of an item, please drop us a line and we'll let you know if an instrument suits your needs. Cuban-born percussionist Cándido Camero’s (1921–2020) unique style involved playing multiple congas, bongos, and small percussion, seemingly at the same time, thrilling audiences and jazz musicians alike.

Camero moved to New York City (NYC) in 1946 and was part of a generation of Cuban musicians who laid the foundation for Latin jazz. In the 1960s, he experimented with soul and funk playing alongside jazz musicians like Donald Byrd and Grant Green. Camero also contributed to the emerging salsa scene, recording albums with Tito Puente, Charlie Palmieri, and Eddie Palmieri.

He invented this foot-powered cowbell in NYC.

"The wooden drum — whose name means “panther-lion” — measures about 11.5 feet (138 inches) long and weighs roughly 950 pounds. Historians say it played a key role in warning villages about forced labor recruitment organized by colonial authorities."

France has returned a looted sacred talking drum to Ivory Coast, marking the first official restitution of precious artifacts from France to the west African nation after they were looted during the colonial era.
