JILL DOLL -

Those big eyes and mile-long legs belong to Jill, a fabulous 1960s Made in Japan pose doll! 👀✨

Jill was part of the wildly stylish Japanese “big-eye” pose doll craze, created more for display than play. These dolls were known for their dramatic lashes, Mod-era fashions, long slender legs, and colorful outfits.

🌸 Some original Jill dolls have been found tagged for Herman Pe**er & Co. of New York, while examples are also commonly associated with Bradley by collectors today.

📦 The real treasure? Finding Jill with her original striped box, clothing, accessories, and stand. Boxed examples are much harder to come across and especially desirable to collectors.

She’s quirky. She’s fashionable. She’s VERY 1960s.

And those eyes? Impossible to forget! 👁️🧡

💜 Weishar made Swung Vases

🏷️ The example pictured is Weishar , officially labeled:

“Swung Vase (10–12”) – Amethyst”

The AY designation identifies the beautiful deep Amethyst color.

🌟 HOW RARE ARE THEY?

Weishar’s collectible glass was produced on a much smaller scale than typical mass-market glassware. Company information indicates that desired production runs for its full-size collectible pieces were generally only around 500–1,000 pieces, with some documented Weishar items produced in quantities of only a few hundred.

⚠️ However, an exact production total for has not yet been documented, so it would be misleading to claim that only 500 or 1,000 of this particular vase exist.

What makes these swung vases especially interesting today is how infrequently clearly identified examples appear, particularly ones retaining their original Weishar box and factory label. The packaging confirms the model number, original color name, size and that Weishar itself marketed the piece as a “Swung Vase.”

💜 Original box + label + unusual color + individually swung form = a pretty special survivor!

And remember—the crazy, uneven top isn’t damage. That’s part of the charm! Each vase received its own personality during the swinging process.

✨ Vintage glass doesn’t have to be 60 years old to be collectible. Sometimes scarcity is already hiding in plain sight.

🐓 DID YOU KNOW? —

Imperial Glass Rooster on the Nest

Not every Hen on Nest is actually a hen! 👀🐓

Among the many animal-covered dishes produced by American glassmakers is this handsome Rooster—or Cockerel—on the Nest, attributed to the Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio.

🏭 A LITTLE IMPERIAL HISTORY…
Imperial Glass was founded in 1901, with production beginning in 1904. The company became one of America’s best-known pressed-glass manufacturers, producing everything from elegant tableware to decorative novelty glass. Imperial remained in operation until 1984.

🐓 HEN OR ROOSTER?
Definitely a rooster! His large upright comb, proud chest and dramatic curled tail feathers distinguish him from the traditional hens found on so many covered dishes.

The rooster forms the removable lid, while the lower portion becomes the nest-shaped bowl. One particularly charming feature is the elaborate pierced or open-lace border surrounding the nest.

🤍 AND HE DIDN’T ONLY COME IN WHITE!
Imperial produced versions of its rooster covered dish in several striking glass treatments. Collectors may encounter examples in opaque milk glass, colored glass, slag glass and iridescent/carnival glass.

🔎 FLIP THAT CHICKEN OVER! 😂
When identifying one of these pieces, always examine the underside carefully. Some Imperial examples carry the company’s familiar IG trademark. The shape of the rooster, tail feathers, nest and decorative rim can also provide important identification clues.

🐔 COLLECTOR BEWARE!
Imperial wasn’t the only American glassmaker producing animal-on-nest dishes. These covered dishes became popular decorative and serving pieces, and numerous manufacturers created their own versions. That’s why identifying one simply as “vintage milk glass” can overlook an important part of its history.

✨ WHY DO COLLECTORS LOVE THEM?
They’re decorative, useful, unmistakably nostalgic—and there are enough different colors, makers and variations to turn one innocent little chicken purchase into an entire flock. 😂

So the next time you spot a glass chicken sitting on an antique-store shelf…

Look a little closer. It might not be a hen at all! 🐓🤍

It feels so strange to not be riddled with work obligations! Back to the gym to reflect and gain ideas in my zen place. I dared to get on the scale 😳. It was fabulous news! Down 10lbs. 10 to go.

Lowering my stress levels and worrying less about the unnecessary; because guess what I am retired 🤣🤣 so I am not going to worry about anything or anyone. This gal, staff of 1 is finding her inner peace and it’s fabulous!

Now to eat, research, study and take new photos of new listing that are coming to my website store!
