Literally all I think about is “buying less, doing more” - even when it comes to food. I grew up gardening with my grandma, and have always had a ton of plants growing. There seems to be no better time to start growing your own than during a pandemic. My little victory garden consists of tomatoes, jalapeños (not pictured because they aren’t producing), sport peppers, green onions, bushels of basil, and strawberries. I’ll be planting double or triple next year - because nothing tastes better than home grown. @ Naperville, Illinois

I’m still trying to figure out what’s the best way to share sewing demos and techniques. YouTube? IGTV?? Tiktok??? What I do know is this is the best pattern matching and pocket sewing I’ve ever done to date. Bet you didn’t even know it was there! For more on this dress, read my latest blog - - - LINK IN BIO!

31 has been full of firsts - like making my first belt! I knew for my latest project - the green gingham “pickle” dress” I had to set a few goals, one of which was learning how to make a covered belt buckle. has some great advice on making the perfect fabric belt buckle, and I’m so happy with how this turned out! The pink belt by comparison is a belt from my favorite house dress in need of repair, and definitely the inspiration for this project.

Friends! This Wednesday I will be speaking on the FIRST Female Founders round table panel, hosted by 🧡💗 I can’t wait to join the other amazing panelists in conversation on my favorite topic - sustainability. This opportunity makes me feel super sentimental; co-founder is a former student and I love to see my students thrive. Support our conversation and by heading over to their bio to sign up!

Four months into quarantine later....I’m finally a sourdough success story. My scoring needs practice, but I did it! It seriously could not be without the help of my sourdough spirit guides , and all those who contributed their go-to guides when I kept flopping ( + .drummond + ) . Turns out, you need a chemistry degree (and a scale) to make the perfect dough - and to that I have and .d.capestany + the Hubbard’s to thank for an incredible sifter scale. Also, thanks to , because I can seriously destroy a kitchen in my wake. I guess what I’m trying to say is.....it truly takes a village to make a loaf of bread.

My favorite way of going green is making my own clothes - and this sundress is my latest addition to my sustainable wardrobe ♻️.

I love developing new patterns for each garment I sew - but the fit of this bodice, patterned just for me is too perfect. To change up the design, I challenged myself to pattern match every gingham check, add invisible pockets (the pattern matches there too), added straps that tie, and made a covered belt buckle for the first time!

In the wake of civil unrest, much light is being shed on the unfair treatment of garment workers across the world, and in the U.S. as a fashion designer it’s easy for me to say you should reject fast fashion, buy less, and spend more. I’m able to make my own clothes - but for those who aren’t able, there are solutions. Research brands and where production takes place. Buy vintage or thrift. Invest in smaller companies that pay livable wages. Or take a sewing class with me 💚
