Welcome to my Ted Talk about sewing lol!
Titled: IT’S NOT MEANT TO BE FAST!!
It is true, you can have a fast sewing machine, a fast way to cut that out, or a shortcut to draping a top however when sewing was invented it was not meant to be a fast process. Now I know with technology the sewing process has evolved immensely some for the good and some not so good. As a designer I start to question the process when it is causing the actual clothing item to lose it’s longevity, uniqueness, and quality.. I mean at that point is it even worth wearing? There’s a saying “Good is slow and slow is fast” and as a one woman show I say this to myself a lot! I don’t want to find myself on the sewing hamster wheel (as I have before) thinking I have to cut corners or sew like a mad scientist to be successful or what looks like success anyway.
I had to think about what I want my clients to say when they talk about their piece to others and here is what comes to mind - great craftsmanship, wonderful quality of work, uniqueness in design, longevity of the garment, and she was professional but fun!!
And that’s what I can promise you when you book with me - rather that’s hemming a pair of pants once or creating fiftyleven custom looks for you! My focus is being the bridge between consumers and beautifully stitched custom clothing AND imma stick beside it!!
