GO AHEAD AND CRY. YOU'RE IN MOURNING. You'll mourn the loss of the relationship you THOUGHT you were going to have. Mourn the fact that the narc wasn't the person you thought they were. It's OK to dig a grave and mourn for what you thought was true, and the life you thought you were going to have.
It's OK to have a funeral for your hopes and dreams, that will never be realized with A NARC. But remember that you can still hold on to HOPE. Not for the narc to change, but for the life you have to come.
It's hard. And, it's confusing to mourn for what was never there. It's perhaps the hardest thing you'll ever have to go through. You did nothing wrong. You're a kind and trusting soul with a good, loving heart, and a future with someone who'll love you for all that you are, who will appreciate you, and be grateful for all that you are and do.
That's not the narc. Never was. Never will be.
