Linger and Abode are our first upholstery products with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)— standardized, independently verified reports that summarize a product life cycle assessment (LCA).

EPDs provide data about environmental impacts, including embodied carbon, across defined stages of a product’s lifecycle. This gives designers credible information to support carbon-related building project goals and make more informed specifications.

With Linger and Abode, comfort comes with greater transparency.

Cozy like a sweater. Certified with purpose.

Linger pairs the visual depth and inviting tactility of multicolor bouclé with indoor-outdoor durability and 95% recycled content.

It has achieved C2C Certified® Full Scope Bronze, evaluating the textile across its full lifecycle, as well as C2C Certified® Material Health Silver, recognizing its high achievements in chemical composition. Together, these certifications assess factors ranging from material health and circularity to water, energy, and fair labor practices.

Graphic edge meets textured touch.

Abode brings residential warmth to contract interiors through nubby, looped bouclé woven into a geometric, frame-like motif. Its organic texture and palette of earthy neutrals and rich hues create an inviting sense of hospitality—made for spaces that could use an extra dose of comfort.

Along with Linger, Abode is Designtex’s first upholstery product with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing transparent data about its environmental impacts and embodied carbon.

A new leaf. Meet Kuwa.

Kuwa’s fig leaf pattern comes from pounding plants directly onto fabric, a natural dyeing technique called Tatakizome. No two leaves are the same, and the technique faithfully preserves their distinct anatomy, color, and beauty. Kuwa embodies biophilic design through its palette, the mark of the human hand, and its organic forms.

Shape shifters. Meet Kage, Kiku and Tsuki.

The Itajime series comes from a Japanese block-resist dyeing technique — folding textile between clamped wood blocks, then bathing it in natural dye made from indigo, cutch, marigold and more. Artist and designer Alisa Benfey repeated the process to build layered color, echoing the "in-betweenness" of her Japanese-American heritage.

Kage ("shadow") — blurred, overlapping squares

Kiku ("chrysanthemum") — flower-shaped blocks turned floral

Tsuki ("moon") — rhythmic circles tracing lunar phases

Explore and customize all three at the link below.

Bathed in botanicals. Meet Sora.

Sora, the Japanese word for “sky,” results from Shibori, a traditional tie-dye technique. The cloud-like motif comes from scrunching the fabric, then immersing it in dyes made from avocado pits, indigo, oak bark, and other botanicals.

Nature’s kaleidoscope. Meet Kusaki + Kusaki Wall.

Part of the Slow Color collection by Designtex and artist Alisa Benfey, Kusaki begins with botanicals scattered across fabric, bundled together and steam dyed. Each colorway draws its distinct palette from a different combination of natural materials:

Black Bean — black beans and onion skins
Logwood — logwood, marigold and rose
Madder — madder root and hibiscus
Marigold — marigold and chrysanthemum

The resulting motif is scaled smaller for upholstery and enlarged for Kusaki Wall, revealing new layers of color, texture and detail in each application.

Can colors and patterns have universal, timeless appeal?

For Slow Color, artist and designer Alisa Benfey turned to Kusaki-zome, the Japanese art of seasonal botanical dyeing. Using flowers, kitchen scraps and tree leaves gathered around Los Angeles, she explored Shibori, steam dyeing and pounding plants directly onto fabric to create motifs and hues that are true to nature.

The collection brings the ephemeral beauty and handmade qualities of botanical dyeing to high-performance, print-on-demand wallcoverings and textiles.
