Chicago fashion meets The Devil Wears Prada, 20 years later.

Twenty years ago, a movie convinced a generation that fashion is power. Next week, Chicago’s own fashion community walks that energy into Millennium Park.

As part of the Chicago Film Office’s Millennium Park Summer Film Series 20th anniversary screening of The Devil Wears Prada, Chicago Fashion Coalition, in partnership with Chicago DCASE, brings a pre-show fashion activation to the Great Lawn at Jay Pritzker Pavilion.

Open to all; first come, first served. Early arrival recommended.

Gates: 5 P.M. | Program + film: 6:30 P.M.

Chicago’s creative economy is now the city’s 3rd-largest industry, generating $50B a year and supporting 213,000 jobs, according to a 2026 Arts Alliance Illinois study.

And yet, so many of the artists, designers, and makers behind that number are working multiple jobs just to stay in the city they help make vibrant.

That’s why Chicago Fashion Coalition is sharing this: 400 Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville is offering 127 affordable residences with Chicago’s first artist preference for affordable housing, plus preference categories for veterans and working families.

The waitlist opened today, July 28, at 11 AM CT. Applications are reviewed by preference, then by the time and day you apply, so timing matters.

This isn’t a guarantee of eligibility or a unit. Only 400LakeShoreAffordable.com and the property team can confirm that. But if you’re an artist, designer, maker, or cultural worker in Chicago, this is worth five minutes of your time today.

👉 Comment ‘HOME’ and we’ll send you the link.

Affordable housing is creative infrastructure. When Chicago’s creative workers can stay rooted here, the whole ecosystem gets stronger: culture, economy, identity.
