As we celebrate the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and a time of light, growth, and transformation 🌅 I found myself thinking about this custom pendant created years ago for Jake ☀️
Commissioned by friends who wanted the piece to incorporate a sun and spirals, this pendant became an exploration of symbolism, intuition, and meaning.
The spirals were inspired by Cho Ku Rei, a Reiki symbol often associated with protection, clearing space, and drawing energy where it is needed most.
Beneath the spiral is a single step, a small but important detail that I imagined as a threshold or passage. In my mind, it represented a journey toward deeper wisdom, connection, and what some might call the Akashic realm~ the place where memory, knowledge, and spirit intertwine.
The face within the sun can be interpreted in many ways. For me, it speaks to the higher self, the relationship between light and shadow, and the dance between the sun and moon. The moon phases we witness are made visible through the light of the sun~ a reminder that what is illuminated depends on where we stand and how we choose to see.
Whether or not those meanings are apparent at first glance, they became part of the piece as I created it. One of the things I love most about custom jewelry is that every design carries layers✨ some given by the wearer, some by the people who love them, and some by the artist bringing it all to life.
Created years ago, it feels especially fitting to share this piece during the season of light.
Happy Summer Solstice ✨
